Due to unforeseen circumstances, the September 13 meeting of the Friends is cancelled.
The date of our October meeting will be announced soon.


The historic Yellow Barn is open for sales of gently used books Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-2. The Yellow Barn will also be open on the following Saturdays: September 25 and October 30.


The Friends of the Riverhead Free Library are happy to accept your gently used books for resale.  Proceeds support a number of programs offered by the library.

When you donate books, please put them in the white bins.  They must be kept in quarantine for 24 hours and sorted. 

    Please note:  WE CANNOT ACCEPT OR SELL

  • Old textbooks
  • Dirty, torn or mildewed books
  • Books with racist or problematic content (kids shop here too)

Win Reading Contest

Juniper Mapes-Miller, who will enter kindergarten in the fall of 2021, completed the challenge to read 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.  She was awarded a gift certificate for her achievement by the Friends of the Riverhead Free Library on May 12 at the Annual Meeting.

Christopher Depas, Ayann Geer and Phaedra Milford were recognized in ceremonies as the winners of  new bicycles for having read 1000 books before kindergarten!
